Who is Our Competition?
Guest satisfaction, sales volume set Togo’s apart from competition
Sandwich franchises generate $22 billion in sales annually, according to IBISWorld, and Technomic reports that fast-casual restaurant chains have seen consistently strong revenue growth. Togo’s isn’t alone in recognizing the opportunity — in 2015, nearly 20 sandwich chains were ranked among Entrepreneur magazine’s list of the top 500 franchise opportunities.
Our biggest competitor is Subway, which has more than 27,000 restaurants in the United States. Subway continues to open new locations, even though Technomic estimates its average unit sales fell 3.4% in 2015.
Why do guests love us?
They love our quality. Togo’s sandwiches are made using fresh ingredients, artisan bread, and meat that is sliced daily. The daily sliced meat not only has a fresher flavor, it also has less sodium compared with pre-sliced meat, which requires the extra sodium to act as a preservative.
They love our portions. Togo’s serves big, fresh, meaty sandwiches with a lot more protein, which makes the sandwiches delicious and filling. Guests notice a big difference, which is one reason we enjoy high guest loyalty and tons of word-of-mouth.
They love our service. Togo’s sandwiches are made one at a time by sandwich makers who chat with the guests to find out exactly what they want, and how much. We’ll even make recommendations based on guests’ taste preferences. We offer a deli-counter experience that is completely unlike the assembly-line approach used by other sandwich franchises.
They love that we are different. When you become a Togo’s franchisee, you’re not signing on to become Franchise Owner No. 26,632. You are bringing something unique to your community that is uniquely loved. Our ingredients, portions, and service set us apart.
