What Are the Qualifications for a Togo’s Franchise Owner?
Togo’s franchisees are leaders who like delivering the best food and experiences, and they set a high bar
For more than four decades, hundreds of people have enjoyed success as Togo’s franchise owners. Part of our success comes from the systems and the brand that Togo’s has developed alongside excellent franchisees. As we interview franchise candidates, we look for people who are serious about following proven business systems and who are committed to excellence.
We look for people who will be involved in the business, managing their restaurant or providing oversight for restaurant managers to maintain an A+ experience for guests — and to optimize the financial performance of the business.
Couples are common in Togo’s
Togo’s is not an absentee model. Frequently, a new Togo’s restaurant is owned by a couple in which one spouse keeps their full-time job while the other spouse establishes the restaurant and guides its growth. Commonly, the second spouse joins the business once cash flow and profitability have hit a target, and the couple then runs the location together or begins to open additional restaurants.
Veterans are ideal
Togo’s loves working with veterans, and we offer a $6,000 discount on the initial franchise fee for their first Togo’s location as a “thank you” for their service and a recognition of their unique attributes. Veterans are ideal Togo’s candidates because they have proven their mettle, they have strong leadership skills, they know how to follow systems with excellence, and they understand how to work as part of a team to accomplish goals. Starting and running a restaurant is hard at first, but it’s simple and straightforward compared to what service members are asked to do every day. We can help train veterans on our systems, and we are honored to work with them.
Multi-unit restaurant operators
Restaurant industry veterans who already own several restaurants for one brand may be interested in diversifying into the growing fast-casual sandwich segment. Togo’s offers a compelling opportunity for anyone looking to expand a brand in the western United States. We built our iconic brand in California, but millions of our former guests now live in other parts of the country. We continue to add restaurants in California, and we are also focused on opportunities to grow the brand in select markets in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado — areas where we already have a fan base, a strong supply chain, and the ability to offer outstanding operational support to franchisees. If you are looking for a unique brand with higher-than-average sales for its segment and the opportunity to own several locations, we want to hear from you.
