Togo’s leadership team gives franchisees access to vast experience
Tony Gioia, Chairman and CEO
Tony & Togo’s: Tony Gioia has been a Togo’s guest since the 1980s, and in 2007, he and an equity firm, acquired Togo’s from Dunkin’ Brands Inc. Tony has more than 30 years of business-building achievements within the grocery, restaurant, packaged foods, and beverage and consumer products industries. Tony’s proven track record of formulating brand development and consumer-focused initiatives has been successful with Fortune 100, high-growth, turnaround, public, and start-up companies. Before purchasing Togo’s, he served as President of Baskin-Robbins, President and CEO for Tully’s Coffee and Southwest Supermarkets LLC, co-founder and COO for Wolfgang Puck Foods, and a strategic brand marketing executive for PepsiCo and Bristol-Meyers Squibb.
Business Philosophy: All successful people operate with similar mindsets — refusing to accept barriers and doing whatever it takes to realize a goal. The unrelenting pursuit of one’s passion is the driving force behind all thriving people and the standout trait that sets each individual apart from the rest.
Franchising Philosophy: Tony keeps his passion for the franchise model and his dedication to the franchisee in the forefront of his mind. It is both his promise and obligation to build a system that mutually benefits the individual franchisees and the overall success of the Togo’s brand. Rather than having a large number of average-performing restaurants in operation, Tony believes in slow and steady growth to ensure that existing locations are successful.

Jim Peros, Chief Operating Officer
Jim & Togo’s: Jim joined Togo’s as Chief Operating Officer in November 2014 and oversees all aspects of Togo’s operations, including company and franchised restaurants, training, operations services, and other related business functions. He is an accomplished management, operations, and business development executive and has been a standout contributor from the early days of his career with Jim Beam distillery and Taco Bell to his more recent role as Senior Vice President of Operations for IHOP, managing 1,500 locations worldwide. His career is marked with significant personal achievements in leading turnarounds, managing business development, launching new products and services, improving guest satisfaction, and developing top-performing teams. He is a two-time recipient of the YUM! Brands’ prestigious “Chairman’s Award” for his leadership and many contributions to the organization.
Business Philosophy: Success is all about having a strong plan and then executing it. I look for franchisees who are committed to running an excellent operation, and I am focused on providing the support and systems they need.

Renae Scott, Chief Marketing Officer
Renae & Togo’s: Renae is Chief Marketing Officer; she joined Togo’s in December 2008 and oversees new product development, marketing, and advertising. A visionary and strategist, Renae supervises all aspects of brand management. She has led Togo’s brand-rejuvenation efforts — working to redesign the company’s logo, menu boards, uniforms, and packaging. In addition, Renae has developed a new restaurant prototype and remodel package for franchisees and has been instrumental in launching new and limited time offer marketing promotions and public relations campaigns. Before joining Togo’s she was Chief Marketing Officer for Round Table Pizza and oversaw media and field marketing efforts for Carl’s Jr.
Non-profit Contributions: Renae is deeply committed to her work in the nonprofit sector. Most recently, she served on the Board of Directors for the flagship program of the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, the Junior Giants, which provides baseball programs for children. She has also raised more than $500,000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation as both a volunteer and board member.

Todd Peterson, Chief Development Officer
Todd & Togo’s: Todd is Chief Development Officer; he joined Togo’s in June 2009. He is responsible for leading the company’s franchise, real estate and construction activities. He has been at the forefront of Togo’s rapid yet careful franchise growth, leading franchise and corporate development initiatives to drive systemic expansion. He is a leader in franchise sales, real estate, and construction with a large portfolio of brand development and expansion throughout the United States and international markets. Before joining Togo’s, he led expansion efforts for CiCi’s Pizza, Sizzler Restaurants, and Damon’s Grill.

Susan Koch, Chief Financial Officer
Susan & Togo’s: Susan is Chief Financial Officer; she joined Togo’s in August 1997. Her hands-on experience and historical knowledge of the 40-year-old brand serves as an invaluable asset in effectively managing Togo’s finances and contributing directly to the company’s overall success. Susan is a certified public accountant, financial planner, and a seasoned professional with an outstanding history of success in managing finances for large national brands. Before joining Togo’s, she helped oversee finances for PepsiCo’s Pizza Hut division, ServiceMaster Management Services, and Arthur Andersen.
